Chelsea 1 (Michy Batshuayi)

Chelsea claimed their fifth Premier League title with two games to spare after Michy Batshuayi’s winner eight minutes from time at the Hawthorns – and their sixth in all. Few doubted it Chelsea would be champions after a great start to the season, winning 13 league games in a row between October and December, equalling Arsenal’s 2002 Premier League record. It has proved an amazing first season for manager Antonio Conte, brought in after last season’s disasters when Chelsea, defending champions, won just 12 matches, finished 10th and saw Jose Mourinho sacked. One interesting statistic, boosted by Prime Minister Theresa May’s decision to call a snap election recently, is that five of Chelsea’s six titles have come in General Election years – 1955, 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2017. The club with be hoping the current political unrest and uncertainty continues!
